Mr. Mauricio Arias Santana is an International Master and the President of the Education Commission for FIDE America. He has represented Costa Rica as a player and captain in multiple Chess Olympiads and has trained national teams, youth delegations, and university programs. A two-time national champion, Mr. Arias is a leading advocate for structured chess education across Latin America. He works closely with the Confederation of Chess for the Americas (CCA) to promote the integration of chess into national education systems and is currently leading the launch of the CCA Schools Program.
