Dana Reizniece is Deputy Chair of the FIDE Management Board and former Minister of Finance and Economics of Latvia. A Woman Grandmaster and a four-time Latvian Women’s Chess Champion.
Dana oversees strategic planning, institutional partnerships, and governance operations at the highest levels of FIDE.
She plays an instrumental role in coordinating FIDE’s work with governments, private sector partners, and multilateral institutions to advance chess as a tool for development, education, and international dialogue.
Her unique experience in both political leadership and elite chess allows her to drive systemic change with a focus on long-term social impact.
Dana is also actively engaged in promoting gender equity in chess and supports global initiatives aimed at bringing chess into public education systems and policymaking agendas.
